If you’re a big Call of Duty fan and looking for some excitement for the Labour Day weekend coming up in September, then you might want to set your destination coordinates for Los Angeles, September 2 & 3, 2011 to take in Call of Duty XP 2011. It’s being hailed as an epic event.
World Premiere: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
If you decide to take on the mission, you’ll find yourself in a secure 12-acre compound along with 6000 other CoD fans taking in the world premiere of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer edition, along with a new Spec Ops survival co-op mode. Also on display, will be a full-feature functional version of Call of Duty: Elite, Activision’s new online service, built from the ground-up, to support Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
More than just the reveal of the new title (officially scheduled for worldwide launch November 8th), is a series of real-world Call of Duty gaming competitions, action experiences and a whopping $1 million Call of Duty tournament. Activision is putting it on with lead sponsor being Xbox 360.
In addition to tournaments and prizes, the weekend features discussion panels and Q&A with CoD developers; an on-site CoD armory and museum display and lots of live entertainment to keep everyone fully engaged.
Fans will have an opportunity to prequalify for the tournament prior to the event by showcasing their skills in Call of Duty: Black Ops multiplayer through regional promotions and competitions. There will also be select on-site and at-large qualifications- but why wait?
Proceeds Donated
Tickets for the 2-day pass will be $150, with 100% of the ticket sales being donated to the Call of Duty Endowment, a non-profit that seeks to help Veterans transition into civilian life, find work and establish new careers. Activison Blizzard CEO & President Bobby Kotick set up this endowment in 2009.
To find out more about Call of Duty XP 2011, to buy tickets or get further details about qualifying for the tournament, please visit the official site.
So if you still haven’t decided how to wind up your summer vacation, this event certainly could be a blast- pardon the pun, and it’s for a good cause.
Tickets go on sale July 19th and I’m sure they’ll go fast.
However, if you can’t be there, the world will be connected to the event through videos, TV and of course, Facebook, Twitter and other social media outlets.
