But when this one arrived with the subject line – “Tis the season to be single & selfish – treat yourself with the perfect gift this Valentine’s Day,” I was teetering on “Return to sender”, but my actual reply was a single word – “Really?”
I received an immediate response.
“Figured you guys get enough “for your boyfriend”, “for your wife” pitches. Wanted to try to grab your attention. Besides, there are a lot of singles out there that could use some love and attention from Cupid.”
That was just the reply; The pitch itself was quite edgy.
“Tis the season for relishing in the freedom, bliss and selfish conveniences of being single. Stomp on that heart-shaped balloon, roll your eyes at public displays of affection and this Valentine’s Day, buy something nice for yourself.”
Included was this promo on a number of Motorola offerings from Virgin, Bell Mobility and Rogers.
“See below for some ideas from MOTOROLA that will satisfy your desire for the perfect mobile partner,” it read. “These phones might not hold your hand in a sad movie, but they fit in your pocket and won’t let you down. Well, there’s certainly nothing better as an attention grabber like the real truth and I think everyone could use a little cuddle from cupid.”
The first word that came to mind, in the spirit of that MasterCard commercial – PRICELESS!
